PILING AND FOUNDATION TECHNOLOGY
Starting from the foundation, there are already many areas we can work with. Although common would be pile design, piling techniques, the use of raft Foundations with no piles or Pile-raft Foundation with less piles, there are also other areas to explore depending on locations and type of structure:
Continuous Flight Auger Systems
Ground Retention Systems
Top Down Piling
High Precision Piling
Low Tolerance Piling
Enlarged Base Piling
Precast Ground Beam System
Engineered Aggregate Piers (EAP)
Intermediate Foundation® technology
STRUCTURAL DESIGN OPTIMISATION
Structural assessment for value engineering should start starts very early. We provide early input to the planning process on issues related to constructability, building performance, and code compliance and provdie design guideliens to ensure that the structural and building envelope elements are properly addressed.
Design optimization plays an important role in maximizing the reliability, cost efficiency, and environmental sustainability of concrete structures. New techniques in structural analysis, structural design and software capabiliteis are used to optimise design of reinforced concrete structures.
STEEL REINFORCEMENT TECHNOLOGY
Steel and concrete are two different materials but in reinforced concrete, they have to behave as one.
Value engineering looks at various areas of this factor even up to how concrete grips the steel Rebar to form the strongest bond through designs such as unique rib pattern. The rib depth and closer rib spacing are some key areas.
Weldability depends on levels of carbon that will affect the easiness and speed of welding without preheating. This results in stronger and safer weld joints and also reduction in wastage during welding at site.
There are also other areas to look at including post-tensioning that can be applied to concrete structures.
CEMENT AND CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY
Cement has come a long way since the word Portland was used. It has gone beyond Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to blended cement of Fly Ash (PFA), Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS or Slag) and Silica Fume. Whenever applicable and beneficial we will consider special blends for special needs such as sulphate resistance, early strength or Deep Cement Mixing (DCM)
Concrete technology being more downstream has even more to offer for value engineering. We go to great lengths to extract benefits from advancement in concrete technology such as High Strength Concrete (HSC), High Performance Concret (HPC) and Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC).
